CAPITOL THEATRE PRESENTS NEVER ESCAPE MIDNIGHT SCREENING
Free Pre-Party at The Happy Dog!

Cleveland, OH, November 30, 2009 — Award winning filmmaker Jon Mancinetti and Cleveland Cinemas are proud to announce a special midnight screening of NEVER ESCAPE on Saturday December 12th at the newly renovated Capitol Theatre.

In a dark and ruined future, a young man named Jim finds himself spiraling deeper and deeper into trouble. He is forced to help two unsuspecting strangers overcome impossible odds. All they can do is stick together, stay hidden, and trust each other, in hopes of reaching the one place that might be safe, The Underground.

Scene magazine calls NEVER ESCAPE a “suspense/action/world-gone-to-hell flick.” The film premiered at The Cedar Lee Theatre to a sold out crowd in September. Since then, Mancinetti has received an overwhelming response from the film’s first audience. He says, “the biggest reaction people have had is that they are impressed by the movie’s creativity and originality.” People all over Cleveland have been asking for another opportunity to see it.

Now, thanks to Cleveland Cinemas, Mancinetti will be hosting this special midnight screening of NEVER ESCAPE at the beautiful Capitol Theatre. This new, state-of-the-art digital cinema is located at 1390 W. 65th St. in the Gordon Square Arts District.

The NEVER ESCAPE Pre-Party begins at 9 PM at The Happy Dog on nearby 58th St. and Detroit Ave. The event will feature music from The Royaltons and original visuals by Jon Mancinetti. Entrance is free with your NEVER ESCAPE movie ticket!

I just got home from The Brother’s Lounge and the Media Industry Mixer organized by The Greater Cleveland Film Commission. I had no idea something so cool was going on so close to my house!

It was a “casual networking party,” which means there was free food in a private event room filled with Cleveland film industry members all eager to meet new people.  Well, maybe not eager, but trying at least.  I actually had a great conversation with someone (sorry, forgot which person) who said very appropriately that creative people are none too social.  Luckily, there were so many people that you literally couldn’t help but bump into new connections.

Like everyone else, I was there to meet people who are doing cool stuff, and to promote the cool stuff I’m doing.  Since I don’t have any film projects of my own (yet?) I was promoting Jon Mancinetti’s new film Never Escape.  Hopefully I will see some of my new friends at the premiere at 7pm next Sunday at The Cedar Lee Theatre.

I arrived about an hour after the event started, so I’m not sure what I missed.  Shortly after I arrived, Ivan Schwarz announced some local film news, including tax incentives for making films in Ohio and local filmmaking educational opportunities.  After that, it was everyone for themselves.  Here are a few of the people who were friendly enough to talk to me:

Geof Pelaia – Digital Media Chair, Virginia Marti College of Art & Design

Elizabeth Worthington – Intern, Greater Cleveland Film Commision

Kelly Hynds – Producer, Hyndsight Productions

Andy Schofield – Actor, “Movie Man”

Chris Singleton – Art Director, Nehst Studios

Anna Roth – Production Stylist (warning, “emailto” link)

Sage O’Bryant – Filmmaker, Big Jones Productions

Brian Conti – Writer, Filmmaker, Kinook Creative Studios

Lindsay – Writer, Founder of WritingRoom.com

Trisha Sgro – Producer, Hot Lather Productions

…and the drummer for Raised on Rock, who’s name I didn’t catch and haven’t looked up yet.

If I missed you, get at me!  And I hope to see you all again next Sunday, and somewhere soon after that :)
